Warts (Verruca Vulgaris)
Warts are common and typically present with small, painless growths on the skin caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Most, if not all, are generally considered harmless. However, warts can be disfiguring and sometimes even painful.
Warts spread through physical contact with the virus, but can sometimes go away on their own over time. However, many take weeks, months, or even years to resolve and meanwhile, they can spread by physical contact to other parts of the body, including the face, and to other siblings, friends or other children. Due to this concern, many patients prefer to treat these growths. Treatments exist for all age groups. Come see your dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis and to make sure it isn’t one of the other hundreds of other rashes out there.
Once diagnosed, your dermatologist can provide treatment options, all of which usually require several treatments and can vary in length, to resolve the warts faster before they spread further.
